Dr. Debora Balompapueng is currently a research faculty member of Sam Ratulangi University's Fisheries Science department.  In 1997 she received the prestigious Adikarsa Pemuda Medal for Science, Indonesia's highest honor for national achievement.  Among her other awards and honors are the 1997 Best Women Invention Gold Medal (World Intellectual Property Organization) and Indonesia's Public Service Award for Science and Technology, presented by the nation's leading non-profit organizations in 1998.

Participants in our local research and travel activities, including IRI World Encounters, will enjoy the benefits of Dr. Balompapueng's seminars on local ecology and fishing practices, and will be able to tour her research and production facilities on Lembeh Island, and in the port city of Bitung.

Welcome Dr. Balompapueng, and thank you for joining the IRI team!
